There has been a mix of weather this month …really hot days followed by torrential rain storms. I was in America for much of August but Tasha and her boyfriend Jay stayed for several weeks with friends exploring the nearby valleys, walking and having picnics. Gathering and chopping wood for the fires in winter were a major part of their summer activities, so by the end of their stay the wood shed was full.
Cous cous was clearly thrilled at having such entertaining company and brought presents of large rabbits to the kitchen door every morning – much to their dismay! I guess they were picked off from the rabbit warrens on the far side of the stream, where I often see a large fox lurking amidst the bracken in the early morning.
